Disaboom (http://www.disaboom.com/info/education), the largest online community and resource for people with disabilities, today announced it is sponsoring Alejandro Albor, a double-leg amputee and the number one hand cyclist in the world, at the 2008 Paralympics in Beijing, China. In addition to sponsoring the Olympic hopeful in his quest for gold, Disaboom (http://www.disaboom.com/info/education/) will also help finance a documentary film of Alejandro's life by filmmaker Steven Barber of Vanilla Fire Productions.
"I want to set an example for others and let them know that no matter where you come from, or what you have gone through, if you have the determination, you can make your dreams come
true," said Alejandro Albor about his dream to take gold at the 2008 Paralympics and inspire others with disabilities. "You have to be willing to work at it, though. Everyone wants to
win, but few are willing to put in the effort that winning requires. When you are willing, winning is within reach."
Alejandro will participate in several events leading up to the Paralympics, including The Miami Marathon in January, The Los Angeles Marathon in March, and The Colorado National Wheel
Chair Races in June. Alejandro will then continue on to Beijing with one objective in mind: To bring gold to the U.S. and motivate others with disabilities.
"We are honored to sponsor Alejandro as he embarks on an amazing journey," said Dr. Glen House, Founder of Disaboom. "Anyone touched by a disability understands the challenges and
struggles involved in pursuing such a goal, and Alejandro is setting an incredible example of the power of determination."
Disaboom (http://www.disaboom.com/info/education/), the leading online resource for people with disabilities, was established in 2007
with the goal of creating the first comprehensive, evolving source of information, insight, and personal engagement for the disability community. For Alejandro, disaboom.com is a
long-awaited resource for the disabled population. "Until Disaboom was established, I had yet to find a comprehensive resource where I could go for information, converse with others in
similar situations, share ideas, and gain a sense of community."
Visitors to disaboom.com (http://www.disaboom.com/info/education/) will be able to track Alejandro's journey to Beijing by reading
his personal blogs and looking at his pictures, and videos.
