Halifax, Nova Scotia December 17, 2008 -- One of the busiest seasons for Nova Scotia restaurants (http://novascotia.com/en/home/whattodo/foodandwine/default.aspx) happens this winter with major events showcasing this province'ss food and wine. The 5th annual Savour Food and Wine event and the Nova Scotia Icewine Festival are among the events highlighting Nova Scotia'ss unique culinary experiences.

For the past five years in February, the Savour Food and Wine festival has showcased a month-long celebration of food, wine and entertainment. From February 1 - 28, food lovers can take part in wine and cheese pairings, a jazz brunch, cooking programs and wine seminars. Events include the Nova Scotia Rare 's38; Fine Wine Tasting, Vineyard tours, and forays into Nova Scotia cuisine (http://novascotia.com/en/home/aboutnovascotia/cuisine/default.aspx) with Chef for a Day experiences.

The crowning event of the month is the sell-out Savour Food and Wine Show on February 26 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Over 60 of the finest Nova Scotia restaurants offer delicious and decadent samples from their menus, paired with a wide range of local wines and beers.

A new addition to Savour Food and Wine this year is the Winter Icewine Festival. From February 12 - 22, various dining locations and wineries will offer wine tastings, gourmet dinners, cooking classes and food and wine pairing events - all featuring Nova Scotia'ss internationally recognized icewines.

Winter in Nova Scotia (http://novascotia.com/winter/en/home/default.aspx) is also the perfect time to visit the province'ss best restaurants for the annual Dine Out Nova Scotia festival. Participating restaurants offer three-course meals from a prix fixe menu from February 16 - March 1.
