Todd Cardin to Attend Pediatric Nurses Convention

Todd Cardin of MedTAS Answering Service announced his companies plans to attend the Society of Pediatic Nurses convention in April 2007 in Milwaukee. Todd stated that his companies attendance is part of a plan to become more involved with the medical community on every level. Cardin looks at these conventions as an opportunity to expand his companies horizons. This will be one of the many conferences, conventions or seminars that Todd Cardin will attend over the next 18 months.

In the mid 1980s, under the leadership of Dr. Cecily Betz and with the cooperation of many other pediatric nursing leaders, the idea of a pediatric specialty organization began to take hold. Dr. Betz communicated with many colleagues about this need and their ideas and willingness to help. She eventually steered these interests and individuals toward the formation of the group. Another pivotal event was the exciting and innovative research utilization conference Key Aspects of Comfort: Pain, Fatigue, and Nausea, held at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. A large number of pediatric staff nurses, educators, and researchers attended the meeting, concerned about improving the care of infants and children in pain. The strong collegiality that emerged from the conference spilled into an unplanned dinner of many of the pediatric participants. At the dinner, they discussed the need for a pediatric nursing specialty organization and strongly supported efforts to form a society. Two ensuing actions led the way toward this development.

To date, SPN is the only broad-based pediatric nursing organization founded for all nurses involved in the care of children and families. Society members include staff nurses, school and outpatient nurses, clinical nurse specialists, practitioners, administrators, educators and researchers. The Society offers its members the opportunity to interact with colleagues of similar interests, and to share ideas, research and expertise. Through collaborative efforts with other nursing organizations, medical associations, and child health advocacy groups the Society also influences legislation, health policy, and public education.

Todd Cardin also stated that this is not about increasing his business but more about increasing the knowledge of his business. MedTAS has seen phenominal growth in the past twelve months and Cardin looks to learn as much about the medical industry as possible.
