"This float will be a real celebration of the Olympic Games and will perfectly embody the parade theme, "Passport to the World's Celebrations," said Ron Miziker, founder and CEO. "It will be one of the most spectacular floats ever."
More than 100 performers will accompany the float down Colorado Boulevard. Students from the Beijing Number 2 Middle School who study dancing there will perform traditional dances. Alongside the float will be acrobats with spinning plates called Zhuan Die and Kongzhu spinners with multi-string yo-yo type devices. Five Chinese acrobats will showcase their amazing feats riding aboard the float. Performers in elaborate Chinese opera costumes will stand at each corner of the float. Marching behind the float will be 30 representatives of various ethnic minority groups of China. Their costumes were created specifically for the Rose Parade.
Incredible fireworks accompanying the float will be a harbinger of the extravagant fireworks display planned for the Opening Ceremonies of the XXIX Olympiad in Beijing. Fireworks technology was first created in China over 2000 years ago and is used for celebrations worldwide.
Festival Artists Worldwide of Azusa is the float designer that will feature the Olympic mascots and symbols from the 2008 Summer Games. The float is being co-sponsored by Avery Dennison and the Roundtable of Chinese-American Organizations.
