The Creative Arts Workshop and Shadow Play Entertainment prepare to host the 1st Annual C. A.A.T.S. (Creative Arts Amateur Talent Search).
This event is open to all poets, singers, rappers, dancers, comedians and any other artist in Mississippi. Over $2700 in cash will be awarded in 3 age categories.
The open auditions will be Saturday, July 16, 2005 from 12-7p.m. at McRaes Metrocenter, Widow Watson. After narrowing down the pool of contestants, the top 10 in each age category will
compete on Friday, August 26, 2005.
There is a one-time $25.00 registration fee ($50 for groups of three or more) and a 8"x10" photo is required. Pre-registration is available at Shadow Play inside the Jackson Medical Mall
across from Cellular Connection. ($4.00 from each registration is going to benefit organizations within the state of MS namely: $1.00 to the Amery Fund, $1.00 to the Miara Simpson
foundation, .50 to Southern AIDS Commission, .50 to Building Bridges, Inc., and $1.00 to the Rankin County Arts Alliance.)
Portions of the talent search, including auditions and judge's deliberations with be aired via television on "Conversations with C. A. Webb" on 16 WAPT and interviews will be conducted
via radio on WMPR 90.1 FM. This will make it the state of Mississippi's first reality show about the arts.
