Cornerstone BioPharma Names Dr Brian Dickson Chief Medical Officer



May 20, 2005 -- Cornerstone BioPharma, Inc. the Triangle-based specialty pharmaceutical company currently focused on the development and commercialization of niche prescription medications in the pain, anti-infective, and respiratory markets, today announced that Dr. Brian Dickson has joined the company as Chief Medical Officer.

Dickson's appointment comes on the heels of Cornerstone's recent development and licensing agreement with Lupin Ltd. He will play an integral role in the partnership, in which both companies will collaborate in the clinical development of a novel drug delivery system (NDDS) for an anti-infective product.

Dickson joins Cornerstone with an impressive 20-year background in development at major pharmaceuticals and biotech companies. He has worked with such companies as Smith, Kline & French, Searle, Warner Lambert/Parke Davis and was most recently with the CRO Inveresk, where he was Chief Medical Officer. Dickson has led teams that have obtained 18 FDA approvals and has presented at 14 FDA Advisory Boards.

As CMO, Dickson will be responsible for developing new products in order to obtain timely regulatory approval, assisting in attaining new products for the company, designing and managing all clinical studies as well as leading negotiations with the FDA regarding company issues.

In addition to his industry experience, Dickson was a past Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Pharmaceutical Medicine and is a member of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine. He has also served as a subcommittee member for nutrition and anemia at the World Health Organization. Dickson obtained a degree in Medicine from Adelaide University in South Australia.
