Recent studies have confirmed that the use of potency drug Viagra can help in the survival of some wild animal. According to the researchers of Canada and Australia the use of Viagra has decreased the use of some animal species by 70%. The success of the anti-impotence drug Viagra has drastically reduced the demand for body parts used in traditional cures for impotence, a new analysis shows.



The whole idea behind this is quite simple, the magical blue pill is by far cheaper than many animal products and its action is pronounced, immediate and effective. Records suggest that the three legally traded species used in traditional medicines: Alaskan reindeer, which are hunted for antler velvet, hooded seals and harp seals, which are both hunted for their genitalia.



Data's8217;s suggest that Antler sales fell by 72 per cent from $700,000 in 1997 to $200,000 in 1998. Their has also been a considerable deduction in the trade of seal penises, it fell from around 40,000 in 1996 to 20,000 in 1998. The decline in the trade of harp seal penises has also been documented by Canada'ss Department of Fisheries and Oceans, who reported the price per organ, had dropped from $100 to $15 by 1999.



But it is still doubtful whether the availability of Viagra can complete put a hold on the trade of any species, according to experts some people are still believe and follow traditional cures to treat impotence. But even a modest reduction is important.



Experts also believe that Viagra can help save some really endangered species of Africa from extinction. According to Von Hippel offering free impotence drugs could go a long way to reduce the poaching of wild species.



Viagra is having a positive impact on trade in animal parts for use in traditional medicines, that trade is still rife. WWF understands the elitism associated with the medication and is fighting against thousands of years of tradition.
