Barry Abernathy Hand Picked by Georgia Commissioner for State Codes Committee



May 19, 2005 -- Barry Abernathy, president of E. Smith Heating & Air, has been appointed to serve a third term on the State Codes Advisory Committee (SCAC) by Mike Beatty, commissioner of the Georgia Department of Community Affairs.

"It's an honor to work with my colleagues to improve the construction industry, "Abernathy said. "I'm happy to share what I've learned from consumers and commercial customers over the years at E. Smith Heating & Air Conditioning."

As a SCAC member since 1996, Abernathy has worked with code and construction experts across Georgia to represent consumer groups and the construction industry in the development and review of the State Construction Codes. His current term will end December 31, 2007. Abernathy is the president of E. Smith Heating & Air Conditioning and also serves as the president of the 900-member Conditioned Air Association of Georgia.
