PlumbInTime Appoints Telecom and Services Veteran to Board



Plumb-In-Time, a full-service plumbing company with associates across the U.S., has appointed George Schmitt to its board of directors.



Schmitt, a managing director and SBIC director at TeleSoft, has more than 40 years of broad telecom and services experience in wireless and wireline companies. He currently serves on the boards of Affinity Internet, BayPackets, Calient Networks, Global Locate, Megisto Systems, Tele Atlas NV and Teleworx.

Schmitt's experience includes key leadership roles at Omnipoint, LHS Group, Objective Systems Integrators, PCS PrimeCo, AirTouch Communications, Mannesmann Mobilfunk (Germany), Pacific Telesis, Pacific Telephone, and AT&T. Most recently, he was chairman and chief executive officer of e.spire Communications, a provider of voice, data and Internet services to markets throughout the U.S.

Schmitt's years of experience include serving as president and a director for Omnipoint Communication Services (NASDAQ: OMPT). Schmitt has served as a director of two telecom software companies: LHS Group (NASDAQ: LHSG), where he was a director and member of the audit committee; and Objective Systems Integrators (NASDAQ: OSII), where he was a director, chairman of the audit committee, and member of the compensation committee.



Before joining Omnipoint, Schmitt was president and chief executive officer of PCS PrimeCo (now part of Verizon Wireless). Earlier in his career Schmitt was a member of the board of management of Mannesmann Mobilfunk in Germany. He headed the company's technical department, which was responsible for the complete development and operation of the D2 network, the first commercial GSM network in the world. In addition, he served as chairman of the GSM Association, an international organization responsible for overseeing the worldwide implementation of GSM wireless technology.



Schmitt received a master's degree in management from Stanford University, where he was a Sloan Fellow, and a bachelor's degree in political science from Saint Mary's College.
