Richmond VA Homeowners Can Qualify for up to 1500 in Tax Credits



Homeowners making energy efficient improvements can qualify for up to $1500 in tax credits. It'ss part of the 2009 national stimulus package from the Obama administration. The new law makes important changes to existing tax incentives for homeowners who replace their current equipment with qualified higher efficiency heating and cooling systems and water heating equipment to their primary residence. Many homeowners will reduce their energy usage up to 30% with the new equipment.



The new tax credits are retroactive to January 2009 and expire December 31, 2010.



The $1500 in tax credits (http://www.jamesriverair.com/residential-tax-credit-details.html) may be used to install a single appliance or multiple installations up to 30% of the installation costs. Any single installation that costs more than $5000 will instantly reach the $1500 limit.

All of these improvements qualify but homeowners can only claim a total of $1500 for all improvements.
