Newsom and Share Our Strength are partnering to increase awareness of childhood hunger and advance Share Our Strength's national strategy to end childhood hunger in America. The resolution before the Conference of Mayors reflects the main points of this strategy, which seeks to build a network of local and national organizations from the public and private sectors in states and cities all across the country to address this pressing need.
Anti-hunger organizations with influence across their home states-including D.C. Hunger Solutions (a project of the Food Research and Action Center) in the District of Columbia, Children's Alliance in Washington and Florida Impact in Florida-are already developing plans to support Share Our Strength's national strategy; the resolution and the involvement of the Conference of Mayors will advance the strategy and accelerate the development of solutions to this problem.
"The end to childhood hunger in America is within our reach. With the help of government officials, businesses, the nonprofit sector and individual citizens, we can put an end to childhood hunger in America," said Billy Shore, Executive Director of Share Our Strength.
