May 8, 2005 -- I have over the years seen how passionately people assosciate themselves with their countries. Not only so but I have come across certain individuals who have gone to extraordinary lengths to raise profiles of their country. Living in the West I am very much aware of the misconceptions that surround India and Indians. We are still thought of as a Bullock-Cart economy. It is true that India is still a third-world country but in the past-decade we have proven it to ourselves that not all is lost. We have begun yet again to build a stronger and more prosperous country. By putting up this site together I wish to educate my friends, Myself and any other person who may chance upon this site. This is not a new site, it is just an information portal if you may say.

I have personally experienced the trouble of obtaining information on any topic relating to India, as the information seems to be scattered around. This is just an effort to catalogue a small proportion of all the information available nowadays and provide it to anyone who wishes to read it for free and conviniently. I have also set up forums where people can discuss and share their knowledge. I would invite people to write in to us if they wish to, suggest us something, and basically anything they would like to talk to us about. India-Rising is merely an effort to provide a one stop information point to people to help them update their knoweldge on India, make them aware of facts and our progress.

India-Rising came was launched on 8th of April, 2005. After having browsed through a lot of sites for weeks I failed to came up with something that would provide an indivdual who had more or less no knowledge of India and was more interested in knowing about India. Infact many Indians living abroad themselves are ignorant of the developments in India. I am an economics student and so you can see that I have only managed to make this site in HTML. I plan to keep this site simple and easy to navigate.
