Election Trust Integrates Overseas eVotes Verified

The 2008 American Presidential election produced two dramatic 'sfirsts's: The first African-American president and the first verifiable online votes cast in any election.

Election Trust, as the integration partner of Operation BRAVO Foundation'ss 'sOkaloosa Distance Balloting Pilot's (www.operationbravo.org/our_solutions.html), or ODBP, saw almost four years of collaborative work result in the successful demonstration of the next generation of secure, transparent and reliable remote electronic voting, or 'sdistance balloting's.

Delivering a real alternative to the snail-mail 'sabsentee's balloting that frustrates millions of U.S. overseas voters, ODBP relied on Okaloosa County-authentication of voters who cast a distance ballot through a Florida State-certified remote kiosk electronic voting system designed and implemented by Scytl Secure Electronic Voting.

When Okaloosa County asked us to recommend a superior online voting platform for this pilot, we did not hesitate to bring in Scytl, said John Bodin, Election Trust'ss Managing Partner. Their proven record of securing an auditable online voting environment, coupled with Florida law requiring a voter-verifiable paper record, meant we could demonstrate online voting can be a trusted distance balloting option. That'ss what ODBP delivered.

ODBP deployed Okaloosa County poll workers who managed the Kiosk sites, one each in the United Kingdom, Germany and Japan. Registered county voters electronically accessed, voted and submitted their secure and anonymous ballots while verifying a simultaneously produced paper record of their vote. The manual count of the paper records was compared with the electronic tabulation report to validate system performance. The paper records and the Secured-by-Scytl distance ballots matched perfectly.
