The Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition (TIRRC) began in January, 2001 as a union of grassroots immigrant leaders, groups and their allies. The genesis for this formation was
a bill in the Tennessee legislature promising immigrants without social security numbers access to driver'ss licenses. Several groups are involved in the coalition, including, but not
limited to, Latinos, Nigerians, Somalians, Iranians, Kurds and Egyptians. The TIRRC is led primarily by immigrants and refugees and advocates and defends the rights of all immigrants and
