In early polls for the democratic nomination for Governor of Alabama 10 months before the vote, Lucy Baxley holds a lead in the crowded field for the democratic nomination.
But Lucy Baxley must worry about her opponents Don Siegelman, Johnny Swanson and Harry Lyons all of Birmingham, AL. Siegelman and Swanson is battling for second place to advance in a
runoff against Baxley. While Lyons trailing with only a single digit of the likely voters, according to an exclusive Research Logistics conducted 8/9-8/15/2005.
Baxley leads the race for the democratic nomination for governor in 2006 with only 29% of the likely voters. Baxley, Seigleman and Swanson is in a dead heat race for its nomination.
Seigleman trails Baxley with 25% and Swanson not far behind with 20%. Harry Lyons an attorney from Birmingham showing only 1% of the likely democratic voters. It is too early to tell
which democratic candidate will advance into the lead in early 2006. Much work has to be done on each of the candidates part to gain a huge lead in the democratic field of candidates
vying for the nomination.
Swanson is an unknown democrat among the Democratic Party, but he is pulling a large number of supports from the African Americans which can decide the democratic primary in 2006. On the
republican side former Chief Justice Roy Moore is in a dead heat for its nomination Moore 48% and Riley 47% and businessman Tim James trailing far behind with only 4%.
The 2006 primary and general election could be one of the costly and heated races ever in the State of Alabama. All candidates are showing a good match up on the democratic and republican
ticket in the general election in the exception of Harry Lyons trailing all republican candidates 20-30% margins if the general election was held today. Education and the State Budget
topped the important issues that concern citizens the most.
