Publisher David Fenton Announces National Launch of Jest Magazine

April 24, 2005 -- At a party sponsored by Tequila Corazon, Bacardi and Grey Goose Vodka, publisher David Fenton announced the national launch of Jest magazine. "A humor publication that doesn't 'play it safe' or censor itself is a long overdue concept," said Fenton. "Jest's mission is to be a vehicle for the brightest comic minds to create original, no-holds-barred satire."

Jest was founded by Fenton in Williamsburg, Brooklyn in November 2002 and began as a free local publication. Dubbed "humor for the irreverent," Jest's content has ranged from outrageous and absurd to pointed, sophisticated and thought-provoking. Contributing writers have included Emmy-winning writers from The Daily Show with Jon Stewart as well as writers for National Lampoon, SPY, Modern Humorist, Air America, Saturday Night Live and Late Night with Conan O'Brien.

Veteran comedy writer Frank Santopadre serves as Editor in Chief of Jest. Credits for Santopadre include HBO, Comedy Central, MTV and Paramount Pictures. He has also written for performers Bill Murray, Richard Jeni, Gilbert Gottfried and Dennis Miller.

The cover for the national launch issue features Michael Jackson with a surgical mask fashioned out of a little boy's underwear. Articles and pictorials in the issue include:
- Feature interviews with filmmaker Woody Allen and Seth MacFarlane, creator of the Family Guy;
- "Interview with Death" written by Bruce Cherry from Air America; and
- The Family Circus, Lost Archives, proving kids really do say the darndest things.
