British Journalist Seeks Stories
May 18, 2005 -- A British writer and journalist has set up a website for people to submit their breaking news and scoops - or even dish the dirt on a corporation, politician or celebrity.
Jimmy Lee Shreeve says he was always hunting down stories and decided to use the Internet to bring them to him instead.
"Now I get up in the morning and sometimes find 50 e-mails with potential stories," he says. "Most I can't use because they aren't newsworthy, but there are usually a handful each week I follow up and turn into newspaper or magazine articles."
Shreeve has written for the British Independent, Guardian and Financial Times newspapers, and for Midweek and Maxim magazines - along with penning features for various U.S. publications.
Writing as "Doktor Snake", he is author of "Doktor Snake's Voodoo Spellbook" (St Martin's Press), a richly illustrated book covering the time he spent with a Trinidadian hoodoo man and musician.
Shreeve says he is interested in hearing about all types of stories - including political, technology, business, books and entertainment.
But he does specialise in crime, having covered police technology and forensics and the work of the Los Angeles Police Department and Scotland Yard.
"I'm often covering the crime beat," he says, "but I like to hear from anyone who has a story to tell, no matter where they are in the world."
