Professional and student journalists are invited to sign up for the first national weekend conference for Latino journalists of faith. World Journalism Institute will hold the conference
Nov. 4-5, 2005, at Biola University in La Mirada, Calif.
Ruben Navarrette Jr., award-winning columnist for The San Diego Union-Tribune, will keynote the conference at the closing dinner Saturday evening, Nov. 5, at the Holiday Inn Select, La
Mirada.
Speakers for the weekend include prominent Latino journalists Manny Garcia (Miami Herald), Rafael Olmeda (South Florida Sun-Sentinel), David Ortiz (Shopping Centers Today) and Berta
Delgado-Young (formerly, Dallas Morning News), in addition to Michael Longinow (Biola University) and Jorge Sanchez (Lake Avenue Church).
Rodolpho Carrasco of the Harambee Center will be the conference convener, opening the conference with dinner Friday night, November 4, at the Holiday Inn Select. The conference continues
Saturday at Biola University with a full day of sessions, discussions and networking. Saturday evening dinner and the closing keynote by Navarrette will be held at the Holiday Inn
Select.
The conference is sponsored by the World Journalism Institute, whose mission is to recruit, equip, place and encourage journalists who are Christian in the mainstream newsrooms of
America. The conference fee is $25, which includes tuition, two nights at the Holiday Inn Select, all meals, books and conference materials.
