Basel, Switzerland April 23, 2008 -- Dierk Koenig, author of the book "Groovy in Action", and Mike Mannion, both senior engineers at Canoo, are speaking at this year's JavaOne in San Francisco from May 6 to 9, 2008.

The topic of their talk is "Going Mobile with JavaFX Script Technology, Groovy, and Google Android".

Going Mobile with JavaFX:

In this session, Dierk Koenig and Mike Mannion share their thoughts about what kind of audience JavaFX Script technology is likely appeal to, today and in the future. In addition, they offer objective comparisons to some competitors in the RIA/mobile space. Some of the contenders they will consider are:

* Groovy, which has in recent months encroached on the JavaFX Script technology space by including a data binding mechanism as part of its Swing GUI Builder

* Google's prototype Android platform, which the global giant hopes to position as the platform of choice for providers of high-end mobile device and business applications alike

About the Speakers

Dierk Koenig works as a senior software developer, mentor, and coach for Canoo Engineering, in Basel, Switzerland. He is committer to the open-source projects Groovy and Grails, and project manager of Canoo WebTest. Dierk speaks at international conferences and publishes in leading software magazines.

Mike Mannion is a developer and senior consultant with Canoo Engineering. He has eighteen years of professional development experience, and has been architecting, designing and developing complex Java systems in a variety of industries since 1995. He was one of the first to explore JavaFX Script technology and was part of the team which developed the sample application MusicPinboard in just 20 developer-days.
