StepChange, a member of the Silverlight Partner Initiative, has teamed with interaction design experts Stimulant to create the industry's first look at a mobile social networking application powered by Silverlight.
Since its debut last year, Silverlight has been rapidly gaining momentum among developers of Rich Internet Applications - especially those demanding high-performance media playback. This
extension into mobile development demonstrates the potential of Silverlight beyond the desktop, and into highly interactive mobile applications
"Rich mobile applications are going to quickly change the way we use the web everyday", says Kevin Tate from StepChange. "We're focused on creating applications that leverage the powerful
advantages of location, personalization and communication that the mobile environment provides - and have chosen Silverlight as our platform because of its portability and performance."
In designing the application, Stimulant used the Silverlight platform to create a uniquely interactive user experience. "With Silverlight, we're able to create highly-usable,
visually-rich experiences in a mobile environment that don't feel watered-down or compromised," remarks Darren David of Stimulant. "Silverlight lets us leverage the key features of the
mobile platform, using tools we already know."
The team is showing off the Mobile Application, codenamed "MIXr", at the MIX '08 event in Las Vegas.
