eHarmony's new relationship with enterprise software giant Oracle is still going strong - and it's eager to share its secrets to happiness. At two exclusive executive briefings in Southern California November 6 and 7, "Scaling Your Technology Platform," the vice president of technology for the online relationship service, Mark Douglas, will reveal best practices, technologies, and challenges learned during its move to a technology platform that enables eHarmony to process over 1,000 transactions a second.
eHarmony uses its patented Compatibility Matching System, developed from 35 years of clinical and empirical research, to match highly compatible singles online. With 17 million registered
users and 10,000 new users each day, the company recently migrated its Web site and data warehouse from Microsoft SQL Server to an Oracle Database 10g to increase scalability and
availability, and consequently, significantly improve the performance of its Web site.
"No one knows better than Mark Douglas and eHarmony the challenges associated with building a technology platform that will be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, while scaling
to successfully handle millions of transactions each day," said Brian Boyd, vice president of sales and operations at Cloud Creek Systems, Inc., the Oracle Certified Partner that assisted
in the migration and a co-sponsor of the briefings with Oracle Corporation.
"Douglas will leave enterprises, especially those with highly transactional online environments like eHarmony's, with valuable insight on architectural considerations, application design
and technical challenges that will enable them to grow their business without any regrets," Boyd added.
