UPS Selects Rhode IslandBased North Star Marketing for Mentorship Program



Rhode Island marketing and public relations firm North Star Marketing (www.fortheloveofmarketing.com) has been selected by UPS to participate in a one-year long business mentorship program. Sponsored by Boston's Center for Women in Enterprise (CWE), the CWE Corporate Mentorship grants North Star Marketing executives access to the resources and experts in the business development and finance departments at UPS.

The program is designed to partner participating corporations with Women Business Enterprise (WBE) applicants, based on the expertise of the corporation and the business initiatives of the applicant. As a certified WBE, North Star Marketing was selected by UPS, the world's largest package delivery company, based on their plans for continued business growth, current innovative practices and aggressive track record.

"This opportunity will enable our team to utilize top-notch resources that WBEs don't typically have access to," said April Williams, North Star Marketing president and visionary. "We kicked off the program last month and have already developed new initiatives that, once set into motion, will take our business to the next level."

As part of the program Williams and her executive team will work directly with Sarah Roberts, UPS Finance Manager of the East New England District.

"Now in its second year, the CWE Corporate Mentorship was a much more competitive program to be selected for. Companies ranged not only by industry, but in size and what their need was. In the end, North Star Marketing is the perfect company for a mentoring program," said Roberts.

The 2008 CWE Corporate Mentorship kicked off last month with a reception at Microsoft Northeast District office in Waltham, Mass. The event included five other WBEs chosen for mentorship and their mentor corporations, including Microsoft, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, John Hancock and Comcast.
