Honesty Takes Center Stage in Wade Williams Session at 2009 VocusUsers...

Meeting with PAC managers to discuss the important functions they perform, the take-away message was loud and clear: Proficiency is important; honesty is essential. The setting was the 2009 Vocus (www.vocus.com) Users Conference, a three-day, highly intensive series of lectures and hands-on training for managers of political action committees (PACs).

They'sre really smart, outgoing, but most importantly they are HONEST, and this kind of work demands a ton of that.



The Vocus conference attendees were invited to share their experiences and job credentials. Most are the product of in-house training in PAC management and receive compliance information from the Federal Election Commission (FEC) public information office, and several mentioned they are on distribution lists of various law firms with campaign law expertise. All agreed their responsibilities receive considerable scrutiny both from internal as well as external sources, meaning they get audited regularly. PAC Treasurers are being held accountable for their actions and these PAC managers are there to ensure these officials are being properly served. It'ss a huge responsibility, both financially as well as from a public relations standpoint. A PAC scandal can have severe repercussions, Williams noted.



That'ss where honesty comes into the picture. These PAC managers understand they need to be smart and careful, but more to the point, they know that there is no substitute for personal integrity, and that'ss what makes them stand out, says Williams. I'sve spent many years in the PAC management field and this recent experience with these PAC managers once again renewed my confidence in the outstanding work they do. Trust and honesty are so important, and they have it.
