Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce Gathers Poolside at The Plaza Condominium

The city's most prominent businessmen and women gathered poolside at The Plaza Condominium at Berkman Plaza and Marina for Business After Hours, a monthly networking event sponsored by the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce.



Designed to provide chamber members with an informal, relaxed setting in which to meet potentially indispensable new business contacts, the event was also geared toward attracting new members by way of Caribbean influenced hors d'oeuvres and freshly mixed margaritas.



In addition to the elegant downtown venue of The Plaza Condominium, Business After Hours has been hosted by an eclectic array of local venues such as Endo Exo, Sawgrass Marriott Resort & Beach Club, The Palencia Club, and JAXPORT. The Plaza has been a phenomenal success and is now 80 percent sold out.



The Plaza's poolside lounge area was packed with Jacksonville's most influential movers-and-shakers - more than 150 business professionals traded industry updates and discussed the explosive growth of the downtown area over baked brie and red wine.



Even the Plaza's developer, Alan McRae of McRae and Stolz, weighed in on the subject.



"Northeast Florida is booming and there's no reason that downtown Jacksonville shouldn't participate fully in this growth. The investment in the last few years in the downtown area by the city, by businesses, by groups such as this one, and by residents is huge by any measure," McRae said. "I'm convinced that in the very near future that we'll experience the growth in residential and retail development that will make downtown the interesting, lively and entertaining area this beautiful riverfront setting so richly deserves."



June's Thursday night event at The Plaza also included model home tours of three different 2 bedroom, 2 bath floorplans ranging in size from 1,338 to 1,473 square feet, and a grand tour of the fully decorated 2 story 2,922 square foot penthouse. As one of the landmark residential structures of the evolving downtown neighborhood, The Plaza houses 206 spacious condominiums on 21 floors, all with river or city views.
