Liz Topete-Stonefield announced today that she has opened an office in Mexico City to serve as the Latin America and Caribbean Division of Topete/Stonefield Inc. Topete/Stonefield Inc. is
a multicultural international advertising, marketing and public relations firm.
Topete-Stonefield said, "This office will allow us to better serve both American and Latin American companies with their marketing communications in the USA, Mexico or the Caribbean. It
will open doors for us and we expect tremendous growth opportunities."
Topete-Stonefield said that while she speaks Spanish fluently and not only was born in Mexico but held several high level marketing positions there, it is still difficult to do business
across borders.
"NAFTA has helped," she said, "but there is nothing better than being right there with the client and understanding their needs. Our response time will be incredibly fast."
Emilio Espinosa Becerra will head the office in Mexico City. He has a degree in Sociology and previously worked for The Mexican Institute for Social Research as an associated researcher.
He also worked for Televisa, the largest television, communications and entertainment conglomerate in Latin America, as writer and researcher for the Mexican version of "60 Minutes." He
was the chief of radio programming for "Sports Caravan," a 16-hour sports radio review for Lemus Information Agency.
Becerra also served as the CEO of Training Services in the Institute for Social Services and Social Security for the State Workers (ISSSTE), and more recently, as Information Systems
Advisor constructing performance indicators for the federal government at the National Institute for Geography, Statistics and Informatics (INEGI).
Topete/Stonefield will provide services of advertising, marketing, public relations, business development, business networking and translations.
Before Topete-Stonefield opened her Phoenix ad agency in 1985, in Mexico she was a public relations director of a major adult education research and publishing agency, a freelance
marketing consultant, general manager of an employment agency, and at a young age, she owned a ballet school.
She holds an equivalent Masters degree in Advertising and another one in classical ballet. The University of Denver has also certified her as an instructor of business development.
Opening this Mexico City office is not the only "first" for Topete-Stonefield. She believes her company was the first in Phoenix to serve the Hispanic advertising market and she is
certainly the first woman owned business in that category.
She was the first Hispanic to serve on the Executive Board of the Phoenix Art Museum and the Arizona Community Foundation. She is a founding board member of the National Association of
Hispanic Advertising and in 1993 was the first Hispanic woman to receive the Ad Person of the Year Award in Phoenix. She has judged numerous national advertising competitions for both the
Hispanic and general markets.
In addition to running her two businesses, she writes a weekly column for Latin Americans on "How to Live in America" which is published by Prensa Hispana newspaper.
