InterAct Public Safety Systems Receives Approval from Alabama Florida and South Carolina for NCIC Access

InterAct Public Safety Systems, a leading provider of safety and security software used by private sector businesses as well as local, state, national, and international government agencies, is now certified to provide law enforcement agencies in Alabama, South Carolina and Florida with access to the FBI's National Criminal Information Center (NCIC) database via the JavelinNCIC interface (http://www.interact911.com/eprise/main/InterAct/public_safety_software/911_dispatch_systems/NCIC_interface/index.htm).

JavelinNCIC allows for a computerized index of criminal justice information, including: criminal record history information, fugitive, stolen properties, and missing persons. The JavelinNCIC interface comes in two forms, inquiry-only and two-way access. Although available as a stand-alone product, JavelinNCIC can also be integrated into the InterAct computer aided dispatch system (CAD)

InterAct JavelinNCIC went through rigorous testing by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and the Alabama Criminal Justice Information Center and has been certified as meeting NCIC, NLETS, and CJIS standards. In Alabama, JavelinNCIC is certified for full inquiry-only access, and in Florida and South Carolina it is certified for full two-way access.

"The JavelinNCIC system has streamlined the way we access and work with NCIC data," said Kirk Stropes, ENP, director of Kershaw County E-911 in South Carolina. "The drop down menus and color-coded fields make it easy for our dispatchers to query and enter data. And with InterAct CAD integration, they no longer have to cut and paste information between two different applications - the system just automatically asks if they want to attach the data to the CAD record. It's a huge time-saver when seconds count."

Agencies interested in the JavelinNCIC system can learn more by contacting InterAct, or at the APCO International Conference and Expo August 4-6 in Kansas City, MO in Booth 2130.
