The Otto M Budig Family Foundation Provides Grant to Cincinnati Parks
December 29, 2004 -- A $50,000 grant from the Otto M. Budig Family Foundation will allow the Cincinnati Park Board to host and produce more concerts, festivals and arts/theater events in Cincinnati Parks during 2005. The one-time grant, announced this week by the Foundation, will enable the Cincinnati Park Board to reallocate funds for other purposes.
"Thanks to the generosity of Mr. Budig and the Foundation, we will be able to continue to enhance the beauty of our parks by incorporating music, art and other fun activities," said Willie F. Carden, Jr., Director of Parks.
"Every year the Cincinnati Park Board works very hard to leverage private and public resources for a variety of events, activities and other attractions for the public." said Otto M. Budig, Jr., President of The Otto M. Budig Family Foundation and member of the Cincinnati Board of Park Commissioners. "It is our hope that through this donation, the Cincinnati Park Board will be able to continue these efforts during 2005 without impacting funding for other areas."
The Park Board has identified a number of activities to take place during the upcoming year, including:
-The Summer Sounds Series. Bandstand, Burnet Woods. Sundays: June 26, July 17 and August 7. 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
-The Plaza Jazz Series. Diggs Plaza, Burnet Woods. Saturdays: May 14, 21, 28. June 4, 11 and September 3, 10, 17, 24. 12:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.
-Acoustic Lunch Series. Piatt Park. Tuesdays, June through September. 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
More events will be announced by early spring. Members of the public seeking more information regarding events in the Parks are invited to call the Cincinnati Park Board at 513-352-4080 (TTY: 513-352-3380). Reasonable accommodations can be made upon request.
