60 extra for OAPs



Greenwich Council (www.greenwich.gov.uk) is reminding residents aged 60-64-years-old to claim an extra 's163;60 of benefits by Monday 22 December 2008.



The payment goes out between January and March, 2009, and is for residents on State Retirement Pension, Pension Credit, Attendance Allowance, Disability Living Allowance, Carer's8217;s Allowance, and other benefit schemes.



Councillor Peter Kotz, Greenwich Council's8217;s Cabinet Member for Welfare and Benefits, said,



's8220;This is a nice little extra which can be easily claimed. The money will be added automatically for some, but I encourage anyone that is unsure to call the Council 's8211; remember the deadline is 22 December.'s8221;



To find out if you are entitled to an extra 's163;60 please contact Greenwich Council's8217;s Welfare Rights Service, Monday to Friday, 9am until 5pm, on 020 8921 6375. Or visit: www.greenwich.gov.uk



Those who receive Christmas Bonus's8217; from the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) will automatically be sent the 's163;60, and do not need to call.
