The City of Starke broke ground on their new, energy efficient wastewater treatment facility on June 8, 2009. The process will be automated, self-contained, and odor free thanks to BCR Environmental'ss patented treatment system, the Neutralizer's174;. The Neutralizer's174; system will allow the city to reuse of all residuals produced by the plant. This project emphasizes the city'ss commitment to do the right thing by the environment and the community.
We chose BCR'ss Neutralizer's174; system because we will significantly reduce energy costs and hauling costs. We can do what'ss right for our budget and what is right for the environment,
says Ricky Thompson, Operations Manager for the City of Starke.
The Neutralizer's174; system is an energy efficient automated biosolid treatment system designed to reduce labor costs, improve plant efficiency and reduce pollution. The low energy
approach helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The reuse of effluent reduces demand on potable water and helps water conservation efforts. The biosolids are thickened, treated and the
resulting residuals are turned into nitrogen rich fertilizer that will be utilized by the local agricultural community.
Nicolas Stonestreet, CEO for BCR Environmental, states, The City of Starke is providing a roadmap in terms of sustainability in water and wastewater treatment. The reuse water and Class
AA fertilizer resulting from BCR'ss treatment system will be used on a sod farm less than one (1) mile from the treatment plant, and the city'ss energy consumption and carbon footprint
will be significantly reduced.
