On Demand Printing Firm Honored in New England Competition



The Printing Industries of New England (PINE) have announced that Coptech Digital is an award winner in the association'ss New England Regional Awards of Excellence Competition. The announcement was made November 6 during PINE'ss 2008 Industry Awards Gala held at the Sheraton Framingham Hotel in Framingham, Mass. with hundreds of industry professionals in attendance. PINE'ss Awards of Excellence Competition attracted 325 entries from 47 printing and imaging companies in New England.

Coptech Digital, which is known for CD / DVD duplication, USB duplication, digital offset printing, color matching, variable data printing and mailings, won four Pinnacle Awards (Best of Category) and two Awards of Recognition. A panel of three out-of-state judges with extensive experience in printing and print production was brought in to examine the work. This includes Tim Burton, Burton 's38; Mayer, Menomonee Falls, Wis.; Paul Schmitz, Schmitz Press, Sparks, Md.; and Dave Watterson, PIA/GATF, Sewickley, Pa. Each entry was judged anonymously on its own merit in a category with similar printed pieces. The judging criteria included: registration, clarity and neatness, sharpness of halftones and line drawings, richness and tonal qualities of color, paper and ink selection, ink coverage, difficulty of printing, effective contrast or softness, overall visual impact and bindery.
