Technology industry veterans Bob Lozano and Eric Marks today announced they are co-authoring the Executive'ss Guide to Cloud Computing, to be published by Wiley and available in Fall 2009.
The book, due to hit store shelves in November, will give members of the C-suite a detailed look at:
> Why cloud computing must be a top priority on their companies's IT roadmaps;
> How the drive for scale, lower costs and greater agility is making cloud computing a fiscal and technological imperative;
> The relationship between cloud computing, SOA, web services, and other relevant IT initiatives;
> The strategic implications of cloud computing on the enterprise;
> Where to begin and how to get started integrating cloud computing into their existing operations.
Lozano is the founder and chief strategist at Appistry, a pioneer in cloud computing for the enterprise, and a popular speaker on cloud computing and related topics. An experienced
entrepreneur with a history of building successful companies, Lozano previously served as the company'ss President and Chief Executive Officer, providing direction for the company as it
developed its foundational technology, secured initial patent protection, broadened its management team, and recruited its early customers.
For all the excitement in the industry around cloud computing, there'ss surprisingly little information available from the perspective of the enterprise executive, said Lozano. And with
the enterprise emerging as the next battleground for the cloud, Eric and I knew it would be important to provide a resource for tackling the issues and concerns specific to the
enterprise.
Marks is president and CEO of AgilePath, an innovative information technology (IT)
professional services firm focused on solving CIO/CTO management, technology and operational challenges, as well as facilitating DoD and Commercial adoption of emerging technologies such
as Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and Cloud Computing.
Marks is the author of three industry-recognized SOA books including, SOA Governance for the Services-Driven Enterprise (2008), Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA): Planning and
Implementation Guide for Business and Technology, (2006), and Executive'ss Guide to Web Services (2003). Mr. Marks also wrote Business Darwinism - Evolve or Dissolve, (Wiley, 2002), and
he also edited and contributed to Manufacturing Leadership through the Extended Enterprise (2000). He also contributed to Coherency Management: Architecting the Enterprise for Alignment,
Agility, and Assurance (publication TBD).
We think executives will find value in a guide that tells them what they need to know about the technologies behind cloud computing and, more importantly, how those technologies apply to
their business, said Marks.
