An Angelic Story of Helping Children in Todays Troubled World

The Angel Gloria helps those in need, and because of her heartfelt service, Heaven's teachers reward her with a gift of four golden doves. These doves are very special indeed, as they have the ability to become angels with special powers to control the elements. In Angel Jubilee Gloria is contacted by the Guardian Angels of two children who have survived a war and are in hiding. She calls upon her angel doves, and together they use their powers to lead the children to safety.

Author and illustrator Barbara Jordan has created a hopeful children's book for our times. It touches on a circumstance that is all too real these days, a condition that focuses on the suffering of children living in war-torn areas. Yet the story's power lies not so much in the specific crisis it relates, but in letting children know--as well as reminding adults--that there are angelic forces that not only watch over us but also take action to help.

She says of Angel Jubilee: "Now children and adults can understand that angels have a purpose beyond sitting on clouds. Giving a name, personality, and determination to the angel in this story allows the human mind to see the active relationship between heaven and earth."

Jordan utilizes colored pencil to bring her story to life, and "the rhythm of poetry to relax the mind as the story is told."

Author and illustrator Barbara Jordan grew up on a dairy farm in Southern Wisconsin. She began drawing at an early age on an old country school chalkboard. As she matured and her artistic abilities developed, she came to work in a number of mediums. She has painted signs, clothes, and wall murals; created landscape quilts; and designed gardens.

Jordan became interested in inspirational and spiritual awareness in 1982, after the death of her first husband. "I read as many books as possible," she says, "written by authors about their near-death experiences. I wanted to learn more about heaven's activities.

"The inspiration for Angel Jubilee came as I decided to write a poem to a friend. I surprised myself at how well it described my feelings. I realized I could combine many of my talents and thoughts to help children learn about angels. I have heard stories told to adults about the supernatural, but had not seen any that were geared toward children. This is why I decided to write Angel Jubilee."
