OneYearOld Canadian Immigrant Magazine is Torontobound
June 21, 2005 -- The one-year-old Canadian Immigrant Magazine, Canada's first magazine for all immigrants, is going national, starting with an Ontario online edition.
The free monthly magazine was launched in B.C. in May 2004 by publisher Naeem "Nick" Noorani, a Canadian immigrant who was born in Mumbai, India, and came here seven years ago.
"When we first started this magazine, we wanted to provide a voice for all immigrants in Canada and address the issues important to them, which transcend ethnicity," says Noorani. "We've received so much interest from people, politicians, and business and community leaders in Toronto that launching our Ontario edition was a natural step."
Designed to help immigrants be successful in Canada, the magazine's credo is to inform, educate and motivate by featuring high-quality content.
The Ontario online edition will feature Ontario- and Toronto-specific content each month, including people profiles, reporting on GTA and provincial immigrant resources, issues and news, and coverage of local ethnic events. The June Ontario edition kicks off with a feature profile of community activist Dr. George J. Sefa Dei.
Plans to launch the Toronto print edition and Calgary online edition are underway.
