The Berry Company Holds Annual Blood Drive

Last week, The Berry Company held its annual Blood Drive in partnership with The Community Blood Center (CBC). Over 40 employees rolled up their sleeves in an effort to help save lives in the Dayton community.

CBC parked the blood donor bus in front of the company building for on-site donations, and 30 units of blood were contributed. Research shows that to sufficiently meet the transfusion needs for patients in the 13 counties that CBC services, approximately 270 pints of blood are needed daily. The only way to meet the demand of maintaining the daily amount required is through volunteer donations.

"The area blood supply would not be sufficient to meet the blood needs of area patients without the support of local businesses like The Berry Company," stated Norm Krueckeberg, Director of Donor Services for Community Blood Center. "Blood drives that occur at business locations make blood donation convenient for donors and sends the message that community service is important."

"There is no substitute for human blood, and with such a large demand, Berry employees are proud to come together to support such an important cause and help save lives in the community," said Janet Davis, Human Resources Manager for The Berry Company.
