
Night Under Fire at Norwalk Raceway Park is the world'ss largest drag race. The headline racer is NHRA Funny Car Champion John Force.
Norwalk, OH June 29, 2006 -- The ACDelco Ohio Lottery Night Under Fire presented by Amalie Motor Oil will come to Norwalk Raceway Park July 1, 2006. Thirteen-time National Hot Rod Association Champion John Force is the headline attraction among eight 330-MPH nitro Funny Cars at the largest single day drag race in the world, the Night Under Fire.
John Force will bring A&E Television to Norwalk for the event, filming the final episode of Force's8217;s new reality show, Driving Force. Driving Force will begin airing in July, focusing on Force's8217;s relationship with his three daughters; all of whom are following in their father's8217;s footsteps with a career in drag racing. Daughter Ashley Force will compete in her A/Fuel Dragster.
John Force joins NHRA drivers Scott Kalitta, Robert Hight, Tony Pedregon, Cruz Pedregon, Eric Medlen, Tim Wilkerson, and Gary Densham for the 7:00 pm show. Legendary driver Connie Kalitta will also attend, assisting son Scott and nephew Doug Kalitta with their race cars.
Jessie Harris, the elegant driver of the BIC Lighter Queen of Diamonds Jet Dragster, will return to Norwalk undefeated. Harris will race the Hanna Motorsports 310 MPH jet dragster against Danny Sullivan, Dan Pirisi, and Lou Pereira for three rounds of competition.
Kenny Nelson'ss wheelstanding 's8220;Cool Bus's8221; will delight the capacity crowd with two thrilling races against Scott Kennedy's8217;s 's8220;Controlled Insanity's8221; wheelstander. Akron native Bob Motz will bring his 220 mile an hour Jet Kenworth. Each year, drag racing fans from across the country wait in anticipation for the spectacle of Motz using the heat and power of 20,000 horsepower to ignite Norwalk's8217;s seventy two foot-long backboard sign.
Norwalk concludes the evening with a spectacular $100,000 fireworks celebration.
Gates open on Saturday, July 1 at 8:00 AM. Tickets are still available at $37 for a reserved seat for adults 12 and up; $14 for a child'ss reserved seat ages 0-11.
