November 24, 2004 -- Shane Hmiel in the No. 15 TRIMSPA Chevrolet tackled the first leg of his wild weekend of racing at the Homestead-Miami Speedway. Hmiel's first race in his triple-header was in the Ford 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race. Hmiel started 10th in the field and proved to a fast truck from the beginning of the race. Hmiel powered his TRIMSPA Chevrolet into the lead for 20 laps.

"Our truck was so fast," Hmiel said after the event. "I knew when we were leading that I needed tires and Kasey was quicker than I was at that point so I let him by. We waited for our pit window to get four fresh tires, but got ourselves a lap down when the caution waved right after the stop. We knew we were fast enough to get back up there once we got the lucky dog on the next caution. Then we got the lucky dog when the caution came out and it got crazy from there. I don't know what happened out there. But I guess the pit official didn't know that the pits were open and I went to come in and it just all got messed up out there. All I know is I was able to make my lap up and then unfortunately we cut a tire and that was the end of our day. I've had rotten luck with tires these last few weeks."

Shane Hmiel will be moving out of the No. 15 Billy Ballew Motorsports TRIMSPA Chevrolet NASCAR Craftsman Truck and will head to the NASCAR Busch Series in the No. 32 TRIMSPA Chevrolet.

"I just want to thank Billy Ballew and the whole Billy Ballew Motorsports operation for the opportunity they gave me this year," Hmiel said. "I've grown a lot since the beginning of the season as a driver and a person. I've made a lot of good friends in the series and I'll never forget having my first win in a major NASCAR Series race in a truck in Las Vegas. I'm glad I won it in my good friend Billy's truck. I like the Craftsman Truck Series and I would love to come back and race again."

You can see Hmiel race the rest of his marathon Saturday during the NASCAR Busch Series season finale and Sunday in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series race. Both races will be televised live. The Busch Series event will be broadcast at 1pm ET on NBC and on MRN as well as XM Satellite Radio Channel 144. Nextel Cup race will be broadcast live on NBC beginning at Noon as well as on MRN and XM Satellite radio Channel 144.
