A Late Race Incident Results in a 22ndplace Finish for Team TRIMSPA



November 24, 2004 -- What looked like a guaranteed top finish was lost for Shane Hmiel and Team TRIMSPA on Saturday when a flat right rear tire put Hmiel in the wall on lap 189. Hmiel started the Ford 300 in the ninth position and remained in the top 10 till the late race incident.

At the drop of the green Hmiel maintained his top-ten position until pitting on lap 31 with a loose condition. An air pressure adjustment was made on both front tires helping Hmiel regain the 4th position by lap 110. On lap 147, the TRIMSPA Chevrolet began battling a tight condition and a wedge adjustment was made under caution on lap 171. Hmiel moved into the eleventh position on lap 189 when misfortune struck. A flat right rear tire forced Hmiel into the wall just a few laps short of the finish, resulting in a 22nd-place finish.

"The Chevy engine powered by DEI allowed us to maintain great track position till the late race accident. Hopefully we have gotten all of the bad luck out of the way this year. We have proved that we can be competitive every weekend and look forward to contending for the 2005 NASCAR Busch Series championship.
