Who's the authority on mangement anyway On Saturday April 30th 2005, LA's Je n' sais quais Rock n' Soul creation
will broadcast their first of many innovative radio shows over the current technology known as net radio. This musical creation is none other than the band Kings Road who will use the opportunity, graciously provided by fans, friends, family and sponsors at FastServe.net to introduce their newly appointed manager, Ray Armijo. The city of Hollywood will awaken and those that witness this event shall be inspired. For this showcase of new unrecorded material (10 new
songs) along with a few old favorites, will also surprise Ray Armijo. His story brings hope for new talent in music.
" I have never seen a band that I could enjoy, fill my cup for four hours and leave for the night and still want more, and you can get more when they're done' a mouthful of goodness from Manager Ray Armijo," said owner of FastServe, Greg Goodman. In spite of the music industries' struggle with piracy in the last few years, 9/11, and the economy on the verge of disaster, the ideals of this young passionate, diplomatic and assertive gentleman have not wavered. Ray has stood in the face of fear, lies and deceit with the courage that only one who takes his position in stride could by standing tall and accepting whatever the position could unexpectedly throw at him. With a huge beam of light smiling across his face, Ray offers this tidbit of wise knowledge that has become the unofficial motto of Kings Road, "You have to kill them with kindness and you have to keep a positive attitude about everything you do. Never let fear or negativity stop you from living your life or pursuing your passion." By utilizing this passion and positveness, Ray has been able to establish his bands place in this town, while swinging his weight around (in the most kindest of ways) in other cities of The Westcoast. Look for upcoming show dates at such venues as House of Blues in Anaheim and BB Kings Blues Club or go to kingsroadband.com. How does a novice manager accomplish such unbelievable feats and warrant such accolades in a small amount of time, 0-60 in less than a year and Dennis Rider's (Manager of Evanescense) rubber has been recyled through his office. Keeping a positive attitude in the wake of insurmountable odds and jeers and by the support of his friends & family.
Ray Armijo was born in Los Angeles and plans to stay here and lend his passion for music flushing through the spirit of great musicians and artists. The most important part of being a good and effective manager is to earn and maintain the love and respect of his/her band. Here it is most evident in a band members own words (always one to express his musings poetically), lead singer Ivan on the subject "You can leave your hat on, you can put a dime in your pocket, use the power of love, be HAPPY, because your love is like deep-fried chicken." Who needs Joe Cocker at times like this.
F. James speaks on a more down to earth beat with this comment on Ray's, how do the French say it, "debinoir" on Ray's directions- " He takes the longest route, but he's always the first to arrive, as well as taking a joke even when your serious." His example of being assertive, "No matter how tired he is, his locomotive never dries out and still manages to have an extra pull for our caboose."
Guitarist Todd shows his appreciation for Ray by offering these words, "He takes care of us by doing everything from getting water to the best massage. He's part of the band family no matter what they say at the clubs. Rainman, thanks for the assistance.
Bassist, keyboardist Damian acknowledges that being manager for Kings Road is a thankless job, "His enthusiaticism and gunghoedness always seem to impress me. I think he's an awesome sport and tries his best to act like a professional in spite of our verbal abuse. In fact he has shown me how to act like a professional."
