Milwaukees Underground Goth Community Celebrates Annual MidSummer Nights Scream event this weekend

All are hereby cordially invited to attend a very special and elegant MGC summer-time evening event celebrating dark art and music called "A Midsummer Night's Scream!"

Like the first Scream held (back in July of 2003), we have decided to make the music of this year's event 100% about the best local talent from our area in Wisconsin & Illinois. To that end, the council is very proud to announce that the heirs to Chicago's Gothic-Rock throne, GRIGORI 3, are our headline act! Some of you may have caught their show in Milwaukee on April 22nd of this year, so you know first hand that this hard-hitting band's dynamic, female-fronted sound is not to be missed by those who love "all this Goth stuff."

Opening for Grigori 3, we have a very special, first-ever live appearance by The Dark Clan (a side project of Milwaukee-based Dan Clark who contributes rawkin' guitar licks to Madison's Null Device). Opening for The Dark Clan, we are pleased as Halloween punch to announce a very rare performance by Chicago's beautifully dark and poetic Bella Luna! Our live music this year kicks off with what is sure to be a truly memorable performance by a new band founded by our favorite local Gothic personality, Kim Del Rio, called The Shadowpeople.

The council is very grateful this year to have the mistress of ceremonies for Chicago's Gothicfest, Madame Michelle Russo (a/k/a "Fallen Eve"), MCing the event and helping us give away T-shirts, music CDs and many other select goodies. Spinning all our favorite old Goth' tunes between bands so we can dance throughout the night will be none other than Milwaukee (Mad Planet/Club ) and Chicago (NEO) DJ legend RAF!

To get everything started on the right note, however, we're having a special public screening of Hell's Kitchen, a humorously dark short film by MATA producer and one-time/sometime MGC co-producer, Dave Forchette, where the devil himself shows us how to make a pot roast (lamenting towards the end of the recipe how God left him "holding the bag" for all that is wrong in the world - it's a really bizarre and entertaining treat to watch)!

Like last year, we will have vendor tables for our guests to peruse at their leisure. Graveyard Records and Chicago-based, dark-genre music label and event promoters, Dark Star Records, will be among them. Also, Closet Classics (one of the last boutiques in the greater-Milwaukee metro area to carry the really cool, hard-to-find things by great labels, like Lip Service) will be offering extra-special savings at this event on lots of clothing items and accessories at discounts not normally available in their store!

As has been the case the last couple of years, a very special highlight of the '05 event will be the exhibition of fine art by local and other artists. Participating artists who will be exhibiting their work this year include the husband-and-wife team of Juliet and Brent Bublitz. Exhibiting some wonderful photography will be Keith Krause, and we are pleased once again to have Mike Davis displaying some of his very unique and interesting paintings!

The event will be held on Saturday 23 July 2005 from 8:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., HUMPHREY SCOTTISH RITE MASONIC TEMPLE, 790 N. Van Buren Street in downtown Milwaukee,WI, (corner of Van Buren and Wells Streets). Ample parking space is conveniently located in the immediate area around our venue.

We will have another open bar this year with complimentary cocktails, wine, beer and plenty of non-alcohol refreshments for our guests' enjoyment. Of course tasty snacks will be served throughout the evening, too!

Our guests have to be 21 years of age or older to gain admission to this event. However (as always), we are permitted to admit persons under the age of 21 provided any under-age person is accompanied by his or her parent, legal guardian*. (All parties are expected to pay the $20.00 cover charge.)
