While many Christian churches are pro-life, few have programs in place to help a pregnant teen once she chooses life. This is something that deeply concerns TastyFaith founder Ginger Sinsabaugh MacDonald. One out of every three teen girls gets pregnant, two out of those three will drop out of school, but three out of three churches can help. Ginger realizes Christmas is a great time to bring awareness to this issue. It'ss a story about the world'ss most famous pregnant teen, so let'ss make sure there is room in our inns, pews, and church programming for the Marys of today.
As a veteran urban youth leader in Chicago, Ginger has seen the life changing effects of twenty-one teen pregnancies. They resulted in eighteen babies, two miscarriages, one abortion, and twenty-one empty seats at church. This inspired her to create Life After Birth Bible Studies for Teen Moms, an engaging workbook designed to build a relationship and foster dialogue between the teen moms/pregnant teens and the church.
There is a lack of action regarding this crucial issue. These young girls did the Christian thing and chose life. The church needs to be pro-life and help these girls adjust to their new life.
Ginger is hoping Mary Christmas will turn into a yearly tradition for churches, bringing greater awareness and compassion to teen pregnancy.
Teen pregnancy is just one of the non-sugarcoated issues that TastyFaith covers in their resources. According to the National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy, one third of females in the US will get pregnant at least once before the age of twenty.
TastyFaith has resources dealing with non-sugarcoated issues such as broken homes, blended families, violence, incarceration, and other topics traditional Christian publishers may not address. TastyFaith was created in 2002 and is located in Chicago.
