Harmon Media Group's Business Development and Marketing departments joined together to "Light the Night" and raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society at the organization's Light
the Night Walk in Harrisburg, Pa. on Thursday, Sept. 22nd. The team surpassed its goal and raised nearly $1,200 to help the society fund blood cancer research, education and patient
services.
To raise the money, team members solicited personal contributions from friends and family and business contributions from vendors and other merchants. They walked in honor of a local
seven-year-old leukemia survivor named Nick Madden.
"We were so honored to be able to do this together," said Susanne House, the team's captain and Harmon Media Group's Trade Show and Promotions Coordinator. "Our responsibility for helping
out in the community is real. It was a small effort for us that will play a part in something bigger overall."
There are more than 712,000 people in the United States and Canada fighting blood cancers, including leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. Although research has increased the survival rates for
these diseases, a cure has not been found. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is dedicated to finding a cure for the diseases and improving the quality of life of patients and their
families. The organization's Central Pennsylvania Chapter, which orchestrated the Harrisburg Light the Night Walk, works to fulfill that mission locally.
