Hit the Deck Weathervane Seafoods Opens Lobster in the Rough for 2006 Season

This unparalleled casual dining experience is back for its third summer. Weathervane Seafood Restaurants reopened its Lobster in the Rough dockside dining at 31 Badgers Island West in Kittery, ME.

Just steps from the river'ss edge, with beautiful views of the famous Portsmouth tugboats and the historical Memorial drawbridge, Lobster in the Rough is now open noon to 9pm weekends and 4 's8211; 9 pm weekdays through Labor Day. A handful of inside seats have been added to accommodate Maine'ss unpredictable weather.

General Manager Ted Gagner is the latest member of the family that founded the Weathervane to run one of its restaurants. Lobster in the Rough is right on the back deck of Weathervane's8217;s office and lobster buying facility, overlooking the water, he said. With our newly renovated indoor bar and outdoor seating, it'ss the perfect place to enjoy the true flavors of Maine -- the sunsets, river views and a relaxed atmosphere, not to mention the freshest, tastiest seafood in New England.

Great seafood and casual dining are a family tradition. In 1969, Ted's8217;s grandparents, Ray and Bea Gagner, opened a summer take-out stand in the small coastal town of Kittery. Word spread quickly about the Gagner'ss fresh seafood, tasty chowder, Maine lobster and other yummy treats, prepared from old family recipes.

For nearly 40 years, the Weathervane has been fulfilling its promise to provide generous portions of high quality, great tasting food and drink, served with prompt and friendly service at a fair price. The company has grown to 16 restaurants in New England and New York.
