On Friday, November 14th, Gaylord Texan Resort (www.gaylordtexan.com) will celebrate the opening of its fifth annual Lone Star Christmas event by turning on 1.2 million holiday lights and showcasing festive d's233;cor and displays including 10,000 ornaments, 2,300 feet of garland, 5,600 wreaths, magical train sets, a life-size gingerbread house, a 50-foot rotating Christmas tree, and Santa'ss workshop, to name a few.

Beginning at 8:00pm in the resort'ss magnificent Lone Star Atrium, Gaylord Texan'ss Senior Vice President and General Manager, John Imaizumi, will take stage to welcome resort guests and local visitors, as well as introduce The Children'ss Choir of Texas for a special musical performance. At the end of the ceremony, after the resort has flipped the switch to turn on its holiday lights and displays, guests will enjoy a variety of entertainers including Santa 's38; Mrs. Claus, live reindeer, toy soldier stilt walkers, balloon artists, and Jack Frost.

Gaylord Texan'ss Lone Star Christmas Lighting Ceremony is open to the public, free of charge, and sponsored by Reliant Energy. As always, local visitors who spend $25 or more in the resort'ss restaurants or retail shops will also receive validated self-parking.

Also opening on Friday, November 14th, at 10:00am is the resort'ss awe-inspiring ICE! attraction. Visitors will feel as though they have been transported to the North Pole as they bundle up in warm parkas and enter this winter wonderland created with TWO MILLION pounds of ice and kept at a wintry 9 degrees. The 14,000-square-foot exhibit will host a variety of never before seen holiday ice sculptures and scenes including an Old Man Winter entrance in a room that snows, colorful 10-foot tall ornaments, a giant Santa Claus with a lap to sit on, a candy room full of tempting treats, an entertaining animal band, and Santa and his reindeer flying over four ice slides that those of all ages can travel down. Returning favorites will include the breathtaking Nativity scene, 25-foot ice angel, and icicle canopy.

The ICE! (http://www.gaylordhotels.com/gaylord-texan/specials-packages/specials/lone-star-christmas/index.html) attraction will open 10:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. on Sunday - Thursday and 10:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

On Monday - Thursday, ticket prices are $20 for adults, $10 for children 4 - 12, $18 for seniors 55 and up, and free for children 3 and under. On Friday - Sunday, tickets prices are $23 for adults, $12 for children 4 - 12, $20 for seniors 55 and up, and complimentary for children 3 and under. Complimentary self-parking is included.
