Mexico Tipico Restaurant Featured in the Sun Journal



Mexico Tipico, a casual and family oriented restaurant, was recently reviewed in the Sun Journal. The journal provides information on local news, sports, community, business, entertainment and opinion.

The article titled "Another option for Mexican food comes to L-A, and holy moly!" reviews the new restaurant and their signature Mexican dishes. "An authentically Mexican contender, at that," wrote Sun Journal staff writer Maggie Gill-Austern. "Owned by the Moreno family, from a small town near Guadalajara, Mexico, it serves typical food, says co-owner Ramiro Moreno. '"We serve homemade tamales, homemade chile rellenos, fajitas, mole poblano and arroz con pollo. Pero (but), everything is made very fresh."' This is the fifth restaurant owned by the Moreno family.

Mexico Tipico boasts a large menu featuring tortilla soup, chile rellenos, cevice, tamales, chalupas, enchiladas and tacos. Lunch specials are moderately priced and run between $8 to $10. The writer recommended mole--a traditional dish made of nuts, chocolate, chiles, peanuts, garlic, cinnamon, cloves, plantains and tomatoes--which is served on top of poultry and with rice and beans.

"I hadn't had mole in at least two years, so at first, as usual, the flavor took me aback," wrote Gill-Austern. "Within four bites I was lovin' it again - dipping my fork tines lightly into the sauce and just tasting it, again and again, so I wouldn't eat too much, too fast."
