Professionals from Quaker Oats, Liz Claiborne, and other leading organizations will speak at CP 08 (http://www.contractpackagingmag.com/CP08), scheduled for September 16-17 at the Chicago Marriott Schaumburg. Now in its second year, CP 08: Succeeding with Contract Packaging, is an educational and networking event focused exclusively on contract packaging challenges and solutions. CP 08 is produced by Summit Publishing Company's business magazines Contract Packaging and Packaging World, in cooperation with the Contract Packaging Association.
Innovative contract-packaging practices will be the theme of this year's conference. Speakers include Opening Keynote presenter Jeff George, vice president of R&D at Quaker Oats, a
division of PepsiCo. George will outline the imperative for bringing new ideas into package development, pose questions that buyers and sellers of contract packaging services should ask
to gauge each other's ability to be innovative, and offer ideas for fresh ways of approaching the traditional package creation and development process to create the best possible package
within budget.
Also presenting will be Closing Keynote speaker William Zhou, manager international operations, Liz Claiborne Cosmetics. His presentation will discuss "Liz Claiborne's Strategy:
Integrating Contract Packaging and Innovation" and Douglas Miller, production and operations manager at Bath & Body Works, discussing "Designing for Manufacturability: Making Contract
Packaging a Team Player." John Helferich, a Batten Fellow in the Darden School at the University of Virginia, will go into further detail on mass-customization best practices, expanding
on his well-received presentation at sold-out CP 07. Helferich is the former vice president of research and development at Masterfoods USA. Additional speakers will be confirmed in the
coming weeks.
Jim George, Editor of Contract Packaging magazine and conference moderator, shares his thoughts. "Attendees to our first conference were thrilled with the quality of content and the
networking opportunities. For CP 08, we've raised the bar, content-wise, by offering concurrent breakout tracks. One track will be devoted to secondary- and display-packaging strategies
and the other will explore sustainability issues. If you're looking for innovative ideas across your operations and two days of networking opportunities with your peers, CP 08 is a real
value."
