Riverwood by Del Webb at Nocatee Announces Major Expansion Plans

Del Webb, the active adult brand of Pulte Homes, one of the nation'ss largest homebuilders, has announced plans for the expansion of Riverwood by Del Webb at Nocatee in Ponte Vedra (http://www.delwebb.com/riverwood).

The new Riverwood by Del Webb will more than double in size to 1,015 acres and 1,988 homes with a nearly 38,000-square-foot amenity center, up from the previously planned 829 homes on 439 acres.

According to Jay Thompson, the North Florida division president for Pulte Homes, the bigger community footprint and expanded amenities at Riverwood by Del Webb better reflects the legendary Del Webb lifestyle and is designed to keep the Baby Boomer generation more active, social and engaged.

The majority of Riverwood residents come from the Midwest and Eastern seaboard, choosing to live in North Florida for its low cost of living, affordable housing prices, proximity to the coast and tropical climate. Our community offerings, combined with our prime location, provide residents a vibrant, active and social lifestyle as they consider their next home in preparation for retirement, Thompson said.

Thompson added that Del Webb'ss significant investment in Riverwood during this economic environment speaks to Del Webb'ss long-standing commitment to Riverwood and the Jacksonville market in North Florida.

The designs of the new Riverwood were shaped by resident feedback and the cumulative research of Del Webb customers across the country, Thompson said. The expanded amenity center and its offerings represent the best of our near 60 Del Webb communities. We believe the new amenity center will not only help to boost sales at Riverwood, but also make this community a sustainable place to call home.

The 38,000-square-foot Resident'ss Club

    

The new Resident'ss Club at Riverwood will feature many of the resort-style amenities Del Webb communities are known for across America. The facility will house numerous amenities including: a fully staffed, state-of-the-art, 37,869-square-foot recreation and fitness center, aerobics studio, social caf's233; and library, arts and crafts area, classrooms, grand ballroom and stage, indoor pool, spa, steam room and sauna.

Situated on 15 acres and surrounded by great natural beauty, the outdoor amenities surrounding the recreation and fitness center will include a 7,500-square-foot lifestyle pool and 23,000-square-foot sun deck, outdoor spa, four tennis courts, six bocce ball courts, eight pickleball courts, a 1,800-square-foot barbeque pavilion, walking trails and two event lawns, and a scenic lake view.

Construction of the Resident'ss Club is expected to start in May 2010 with a grand opening of April 2011.

While the new amenity center is being built, current Riverwood residents will enjoy new enhancements to the Discovery Center that will provide for a more active and social lifestyle. In addition to the current offerings of a movement studio used for fitness classes and a setting for social gatherings, Del Webb will provide new furnishings and equipment for billiards, cards, poker and social events. Riverwood residents will be able to enjoy these improvements to the Discovery Center by the end of this year.
