SkyPan is pleased to announce the achievement of yet another level of technical innovation. SkyPan International is now using the most sophisticated, technologically advanced remote piloted vehicle (RPV) transmitter communication system that money can buy. This new technology allows previously unattainable flight performance.
What this means for SkyPan's clients is an increased capacity to shoot in previously impossible-to-shoot locations.
SkyPan is now able to shoot seamless, 360-degree panoramic photography in dense urban areas--areas where interference from other frequencies impair pilot-to-craft-communications.
Frequency interference has the potential to create flight and/or safety hazards. It's similar to what happens when someone upgrades a cordless phone from a 900 MHz phone to 2.4 GHz one.
By upgrading to a different frequency band, there's no longer any interference when other devices are using the same frequency (e.g. a microwave).
A recent application of this new technology allowed SkyPan to shoot a five level assignment in a dense urban area. While clients normally hire SkyPan's RPV for projects requiring
panoramic views at levels between 200 and 450 ft., this client wanted to show prospective condo buyers the exact view from each floor of a proposed lower level condo development. So
precise was SkyPan's flight control that the pilot was able to shoot the actual views at levels in 13 ft. increments, a level of precision not available to full-sized helicopters or
balloon systems.
