The Computer Technology Industry Association announced that Alvaka Networks' CEO, Oli Thordarson has been elected to the CompTIA national board of directors. The appointment occurred last month during CompTIA's annual Breakaway Conference in Las Vegas after the tabulation of the July membership balloting. Breakaway is the IT industry's premiere partnering event for IT business leaders, resellers, manufacturers, distributors, and solutions providers.
Mr. Thordarson brings to the CompTIA board, 25 years of Information Technology Management experience. In addition to his 25 year tenure as President & CEO of Alvaka Networks, a true
pioneer in the Managed Services Provider space, he has extensive experience in working with national not-for-profits. Mr. Thordarson has long been a thought leader in the MSP space. In
2001, long before the term MSP was a popular part of the industry vernacular, Mr. Thordarson was the founding Chairman of the Global MSP Network (GMN) which was later merged with The MSP
Alliance. The result was a worldwide association that focuses on the advancement of the management service provider (MSP) channel. Mr. Thordarson also served a term on the AEA National
Board of Directors where he participated at the national, state and local levels on legislative issues of concern to the high tech industry. He has been a standing member of the CMP
editorial advisory board and continues to be a popular public speaker, columnist, and visionary in the ever-changing service provider community.
"Our Board of Directors for the coming year is noteworthy for its collective diversity, industry expertise and business knowledge," said John Venator, president and chief executive
officer, CompTIA, in a press release earlier this month. "Because they are engaged in day-to-day business operations in the IT industry and channel, they have tremendous insight into the
issues our industry faces currently, and into the future. This insight will help us to craft programs, research, educational offerings, events, and other initiatives to help the industry
address these issues."
CompTIA is looking to add valuable content and educational tracks for those who desire to be in the MSP market and those who wish to grow their current offering. "CompTIA clearly
recognizes the expansion of the MSP and ASP markets. I look forward to be a part of the strategic development of their offering as it relates to this exciting category." Said Oli
Thordarson, Alvaka Networks' CEO. "Having an organization with CompTIA's financial strength and market influence will be a positive force in our ever changing IT channel."
