ITT Corporation today announced the release of an advanced version of its PuriFile deep document inspection software. PuriFile finds hidden information in files and then using an integrated assistant plug-in, helps cleanse the document. The latest version, PuriFile v3.2, provides additional inspection capabilities while saving the administrator and end user valuable time.
PuriFile is a powerful document inspection tool that detects and identifies hidden objects and metadata within Microsoft Office files, which could accidentally or maliciously disclose
sensitive information or confidential digital assets. PuriFile can discover and reveal sensitive words or numbers, camouflaged text, pictures or graphics hidden under other pictures or
graphics, cropped and scaled images, objects hidden off the page and much more.
The advanced software, PuriFile v3.2, performs a fully recursive analysis of the contents of both .zip and .tar files. While still performing deep content inspection for Microsoft Word,
PowerPoint, Excel, and PDF formats, PuriFile will also carry out "dirty word" checking, regardless of file type. In addition to numerous new inspection tests, this release also supports
review of .msg formats, as created by saving messages and attachments from Microsoft Outlook.
Additionally, PuriFile v3.2 includes a greatly improved file-type determination, and a simplified installation and upgrade process, making it both more robust and easier to install and
use. This is reflected in a reorganization of the installation and user manual, with extra sections added to address special "Server Administration" needs.
While still available in the normal client/server licensing, PuriFile is now also available in a low cost stand-alone version for individual and small office security inspection
applications.
