The HUB Zone program was enacted into law as part of the Small Business Reauthorization Act of 1997 and encourages economic development in historically underutilized business zones, now labeled as "HUB Zones". Its purpose is to stimulate economic growth within these zones by providing contracting opportunities to small businesses. All certified participants are rigorously screened and must substantiate that they are a viable business prior to acceptance into the program.
